nature rejuvenation for gardens, orchards, farms & estates
The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. Yet a vast majority of British people care deeply about the environment and want to do what they can to make a difference.
Wild Margin is here to help gardeners and landowners who want to rewild and rejuvenate their land, from tiny gardens to farms and private estates.
Simon Kyte is an ecologist and professional garden landscaper with a degree in Wildlife Conservation & Management from Sparsholt College. Aside from his professional practice he volunteers for Somerset Botany Group, Recorders of the Avalon Marshes, and has been a Honeygar Ranger for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
Using his experience working in nature rejuvenation projects, Simon helps garden and land owners across the South West identify the best plants and structures to introduce to their particular location to achieve the best biodiversity gain.
This is a temporary website while we’re building the new one.
3/5 garden owners report they are helping wildlife in their gardens by putting in ponds and nest boxes, growing wildlife-friendly plants, or providing habitat piles.
Native species provide for our native wildlife the best, and look as stunning as the trendiest imported cultivars.
That’s not to say non-native species are out of the question. Simon’s experience in both nature conservation and garden landscaping means he is able to help garden owners choose plants that look great to humans and nature alike.
SURVEY, PLAN, IMPLEMENT & MAINTAIN
Simon begins by surveying your garden or land to see what is already there, and what could be there with a little help.
After consulting with you about what you’d like to have on your land (both in wildlife terms and in your own terms), he then draws up a plan to get your land looking its best for both you and for nature. He oversees the implementation of landscaping (such as pond creation) and planting - working alongside trusted contractors.
Nature gardens are often less intensive to look after than highly spritzed ones, but a regular maintenance plan is important to keep the ecosystem balanced. We have ongoing maintenance plans for those who need a helping hand to keep their garden and land at its best, and offer annual or biannual surveys to those who want to monitor and build on their biodiversity gains.
